COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA — U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham made the following statement after winning the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate:
“Last night, I was honored to receive the Republican nomination for the United States Senate.
“First, I want to thank all of my supporters, volunteers, and campaign staff for your hard work and dedication. Team Graham is as much of a family as I’ve ever had.
“Over the past few months, our volunteers made over one million phone calls, distributed twenty thousand yard signs, knocked on thousands of doors, and organized events all over the state. It’s clear that we have one of the best political organizations in the country.
“Our win was a victory for conservatives who are willing to solve problems. What my critics suggest is my biggest flaw, the voters of South Carolina saw as my biggest asset.
“Leadership and problem-solving come with political risk, but I’ve found it’s very much worth it.
“Now we turn our attention to winning the general election in November. I want to go back to the Senate with a purpose – to continue standing up for our military, to build the Keystone XL Pipeline, to repeal and replace Obamacare, and to take care of our state’s needs – like modernizing the Port of Charleston. I’m going to keep being that conservative leader you can count on to get things done.
“To the people of South Carolina – thank you. I will not let you down.”
